Our panelists may represent different types of accommodation and have different definitions of short and medium stays, but they all share a common experience: their customer’s travel habits have changed since the pandemic.
Marc-Antoine’s insights reveal that customers now travel less, but for longer, plus a trend that some big companies have reduced their office space in the capital, therefore working from home more often and coming only occasionally to Paris. Operational changes had to be made to accommodate work-from-anywhere in accommodations, and Marie-Pierre mentioned that any requirements from the client regarding the furnishings – a desk or oven unit, for example – to make the apartment more convenient in this new normal is totally feasible. Whether someone is a host or a guest, habits have changed since the start of the pandemic with a greater focus now on being comfortable within a unit as well as within common areas.
All panelists are focusing on sustainability within their current portfolio in addition to what’s coming next, as described by Marion. Marc-Antoine added that this includes more spacious communal areas as well. The conclusion is that no matter the type of corporate housing accommodation, all have to adapt, adjust, and make decisions not only for the current situation (post-pandemic) but also for the future as we are clearly seeing a preference for serviced apartments compared to hotel rooms.
